My brother has severe complex schizophrenia. I also have bipolar type 2. My brother is very sick, but after brain surgery (3times) I felt different. I have not felt depressed or up and down since my surgery. So I'm sorry, I don't agree it is some sort of chemical imbalance in the brain. Normal depression I'm not sure. I never really had that except what came with my bipolar disorder. 😒

Why do we care what 2 non medical and 2 non mental health professionals say about mental health disorders. Yes some people are just sad for a period of time but those who actually have clinical depression have a chemical imbalance on the brain that is causing their depression and left untreated can impact their lives. After having my son I had PPD and I was able to manage it without medication and it went away eventually. Just because it did for me doesn’t mean I should conclude that it will for every single person.
